Mutants of the Deep
Mutants of the Deep was a self-led project in my third year at university. I wanted to design a dark ride attraction that brought a child-like sense of escapism to a popular UK theme park that focusses on an older demographic. The concept for the ride was focussed around immersing my audience into a world away from theirs and allowing a story to unfold around them rather than just in front of them, such as in a book or a film.
I designed a story with a series of original characters, created concept drawings and a 3D model of the ride in the Planet Coaster software and created a series of brand applications in order to visualise how the ride would exist. I also collaborated with a local primary school in order for children to design some characters for the ride, which allowed me to fully represent the audience in the experience.
Concept Drawings vs 3D Model Outcomes

The 3D ride model shows how lighting, audio, ride technology and themed set pieces all come together to immerse the rider into the story.
Visual Identity Applications
